Sheebz and Nick got to the airport around 5:45 p.m.  They were a little concerned - No JJ.  But JJ was "on his way" and the three dudes were united shortly thereafter.  That night was spent at Melly's (sp?) eating some mexican food.  The three players firmed up the rules.  During this event, each hole will be assigned a point total of either 1, 2, or 3 points.  The points per hole were assigned by randomly drawing from 18 playing cards in three different suits, and repeating this for each round that we would play.  The purpose of this is that all holes will not be of equal value, so it is possible for a player to win fewer holes but finish ahead in points.  This was done to change up the game a little bit and possibly make the score a bit more even.  The normal skins game will be played with extras worth one point apiece.  Once the rules were finalized, the players hit the sack.

A.M. - JJ had to work on this morning, but he had set up a tee time for Nick and Sheebz at a course called Timber Creek.  It had been raining for twelve straight days before Thursday, so the course was pretty sloppy.  But the course was very nice, it had lots of trees and water (hence the name Timber Creek).  Sheebz shot 87 (41 - 46) and Nick shot 91 (40 - 51).

P.M. - JJ was supposed to join Nick and Sheebz for the first "official" round of HSI II this afternoon, but he got stuck at work.  The course that Nick and Sheebz played was Country Place Golf Club.  This course was in a community where JJ was building some houses, so we got to play for FREE.  JJ joined Nick and Sheebz at the turn.  The course was wet with a ton of mosquitoes. Sheebz shot 89 (41 - 48), Nick shot 91 (43 - 49), and JJ shot 55 on the back nine. It was a good final warm up - the tourney would start on Friday.

A.M. - Let the games begin.  The first tee time was 7:06 a.m. at Southwyck Golf Club. It was a links style course but did have a few trees.  The wind was blowing pretty hard which made it tough.  Two shots stick out from this day.  The first was by JJ on hole number five - a 225 yard Par 3 into the wind.  JJ hit his 5 wood to six feet behind the pin.  The next shot was by Nick on the Par 3 11th hole.  He hit his tee shot into the water to the right of the green at the bottom of a hill.  His ball was sitting up on some seaweed, and he hit it out of the water to about 3 feet from the hole and saved his par.  My explanation doesn't do this shot justice as it was truly amazing.  After the first round, the score was Sheebz-19, Nick-18, JJ-7.

P.M. - The afternoon course was Battleground at Deer Park.  We started just as a tournament was ending and we got stuck behind a fivesome for the entire round, so the play was slow.  The momentum shifted to Sheebz favor on the back nine when Sheebz scored 41, Nick 51, and JJ 56.  Not much memorable on this round except for when Nick and Sheebz both birdied the same hole to carry it over.  Also, Number 5 was the first time in HSI history that all three players got par or better on the same hole.  (We are still waiting for the perfect hole, where we all hit the fairway, hit the green in regulation, and score par or better.  On this hole, Nick missed the fairway and Sheebz didn't hit the green.)  Sheebz shot the week's low round of 87 and after this round the score was Sheebz-42, Nick-30, JJ-15.

A.M. - None of us knew at 7 a.m. exactly how long this day would turn out to be.  The course was Magnolia Creek Golf Links.  It consisted of three nine hole links style courses named England, Ireland, and Scotland.  This was a true links style course as there was only one tree on the entire 27 holes.  There were many bunkers on every hole and the traditional tall weeded rough like on links courses.  The first round was Scotland then Ireland.  It was fairly windy and sprinkled a bit. Almost in error we played the longer tees so the course measured almost 6,800 yards, which made those long par fours into the wind very challenging.  The most memorable shot was when Sheebz holed a ninety yard shot for birdie on the first hole.  The group's average score was just over 97, the worst of the week. After this round, the score was Sheebz-67, Nick-45, JJ-22.

P.M. - After the first eighteen was through, we decided to continue playing at this course, and we played England then Ireland.  This is when the rain came.  It never was a downpour, but it rained consistently for the entire second round.  Surprisingly, the week's low average was on this round at a shade over 94.  The score after this round was Sheebz-89, Nick-59, JJ-29.

There wasn't much more than an hour of daylight left, but since we had paid one price to play all day, we decided to play "speed golf" and play another nine.  Speed golf was rushed, no practice swings or shot order, just get to your ball and hit.  This nine holes did not count toward the official score.  We finished the nine in under an hour. That day we were the first group on the course at sunrise and the last group off the course at sunset. Forty-five total holes.

A.M. - We were supposed to play a final round this morning, but the all night rain killed that idea.  We called the course and they said that their cart paths were all under water.  The current score was declared as final: Sheebz-89, Nick-59, JJ-29.  Sheebz made arrangements to catch an earlier flight home, and HSI II came to a close.  On the way to the airport, we began to discuss plans for HSI III.  The goal is to hold an event at least yearly.  Our tentative plans are to hold something in Summer 2003, probably in Colorado.
