SCORING SUMMARY

A fourth player to HSI 3 would change things up a bit and probably provide a lot more competition.  This wasn't looking to be the case after the first round.  On the back nine, Sheebz won eight of the skins to take a commanding 21 point lead over second place Kurt.  It appeared that Sheebz could be well on his way to claiming the trophy for a third straight time.  Kurt, Nick, and JJ were all bunched together and anybody could make a move on day 2.

Everything changed during the second round.  Sheebz couldn't get things going and Nick took advantage.  Nick kept hitting the fairway and the iron play held up in the tough wind.  Kurt and Nick were tied with overall points with four holes to play.  The two of them carried over 15, 16, and 17.  On the 18th hole, Nick scored a rabbit and won the hole to grab all four skins.  Nick had pulled to within 7 points of Sheebz for the lead.

Nick continued to make his move during this round.  He kept chipping away at Sheebz to pull within one point by the end of the round.  Kurt had a solid hold on third place.

This is the round where Nick locked up the trophy.  The most important hole of the event was the par 3 12th hole.  Sheebz was trailing Nick by five points.  The previous six holes were carried over to this one and it was worth 14 total points.  Everybody but Nick choked on the hole.  Nick carded a bogey and won the hole.  The momentum shifted to Nick, and he finished with a week high 34 points.  He also had a 29 point lead over Sheebz with only one round remaining.  The score after this round was Nick - 85, Sheebz - 56, Kurt - 32, JJ - 12.  The scores were far enough apart that it appeared as if the finishing order had been determined.

And then Kurt decided to make a run at second place.  He put together an amazing round full of skins and extras.  He collected 19 points on the final 9 holes to end up tying Sheebz for second place for the entire event.  It was a great comeback on the final day.  HSI 3 ended with Nick comfortably winning, Sheebz and Kurt were tied for second, and JJ was a distant fourth place.
