HSI V Players

Player: JJ
Traveled from: Houston, TX
Details: I would have to say that JJ came into HSI V as the underdog.  There was no indication before the tournament that he would be a favorite.  In the previous four HSI events JJ had never really been close to winning the title.  He still hit the ball very long.  Nick and Sheebz still remember JJ hitting those monster shots in Colorado, so there was still a little bit of concern there.
In the Bag: Driver:  Titleist 983k, regular flex graphite
Fairway woods:  Callaway Steelhead+ 15 degree steel shaft, Callaway Steelhead+  21 degree steel shaft
Irons:  Wilson Fat Shaft 3 Tour cast regular steel shaft, 3  through PW
Wedges:  Titleist Vokey 54 degree and 59 degree
Putter:  Ping Zing 2F
Preferred Ball:  Titleist DT SoLo
Memorable HSI V Moments: Having the tournament come down to the wire and actually feeling like every shot counted. The best HSI yet!
Favorite Course: Tierra Verde

Player: SHEEBZ
Traveled from: hosted in Dallas, TX
Details: Sheebz entered HSI V with not much confidence.  He had not been playing a whole lot of golf since Wesley was born back in November.  The one thing he thought he might have in his advantage is that the event was being held in his hometown and he would get to sleep in his bed every night.  Also, he had played three of the six courses before.
In the Bag: Driver:  Taylor Made R540XD
Fairway Woods:  Callaway Steelhead 3W 15 degrees, Hogan Apex Hybrid 19 degree.
Irons:  Mizuno MX-23, 3  through PW
Wedges:  Titleist Vokey 54 degree, Titleist Vokey 58 degree
Putter:  Scotty Cameron Newport
Preferred Ball:  Titleist Pro V1
Memorable HSI V Moments: Being a part of the first competitive HSI ever. JJ smacking the new driver. The heavy wind at The Tribute. JJ breaking his three iron on a practice swing. How close it was going into the final round, and then seeing JJ win the trophy after he was in third place for much of the time.
Favorite Course: Bridlewood

Player: NICK
Traveled from: Maryville, MO
Details: I believe that Nick entered HSI V as the favorite.  He had played more than the other players in the recent past and had also won the previous two years.  He had been talking about how he had been hitting everything real well in the past few weeks.  He came to try to three-peat, which had never been done before and would add some additional pressure.
In the Bag: Driver:  Titleist 975J w/ cracked graphite shaft
Fairway Woods:  Titleist 14.5 degrees, Titleist 19 degree, Adams Tight Lies 22 degrees
Irons:  Callaway X-12 4-PW steel shaft
Wedges:  Cleveland 52 degree gap wedge
Putter:  Callaway Carlsbad Series (engraved w/ NICK)
Preferred Ball:  Precept Laddie, Callaway HotX
Memorable HSI V Moments: Not scoring in the last round of the tournament and going first to worst.  JJ waking up the neighborhood at 5:00am on the first morning with his car alarm.  Sheebz and JJ's daughters walking in on me stark naked waiting to get into the shower.  The wind at The Tribute.  Going to the Byron Nelson and laughing so hard I almost fell off the fence I was setting on.  Being so tired we couldn't stay up past 8:00pm.
Favorite Course: Bridlewood
