SCORING SUMMARY

In the first round of HSI X, the partner pairings were Sheebz and Nick vs. JJ and Powell.  Sheebz and Nick came out strong, winning eight of the first eleven holes.  But then Powell and JJ came back and after eighteen holes, they had won a total of 7 skins.  Nick and Sheebz were feeding off each other, shooting 86 and 84, respectively.  Sheebz had the lead because of the six extras that he scored, led.  Neither team was able to separate themselves significantly in the first round.  After one round, the scores were:

Sheebz - 27, Nick - 22, JJ - 15, Powell 15.

ROUND 2 - Grayhawk Talon

The partner matchup in the second round was Nick and Powell vs. JJ and Sheebz.  It is not an understatement to say that Powell and Nick dominated in this round.  Out of 18 holes, JJ and Sheebz won only two holes.  Powell and Nick took a sizeable lead after this round.  By virtue of his first round win, Nick took a big lead.  After the second round, the scores were:

Nick - 59, Powell - 49, Sheebz - 31, JJ - 23.

ROUND 3 - Troon North Pinnacle

The final pairings of HSI X was Nick and JJ vs. Sheebz and Powell.  During this round, Powell decided to take matters into his own hands.  He went out and shot a group week low score of 83.  Sheebz and Powell won twelve of the eighteen holes.  On top of that, Sheebz scored eight extras and Powell scored seven.  After pairings play, Powell had the lead, but it wasn't sizeable.  After round three, the scores were:

Powell - 80, Nick - 73, Sheebz - 63, JJ - 39

ROUND 4 - Troon North Monument

After partner play, it looked like Powell and Nick were the odds on favorites.  Sheebz was still within striking mode, but JJ was way back.  Nick took the lead after winning the fifth hole, but then he went cold.  JJ won a couple of holes, but Powell and Sheebz weren't doing much.  Then on the 13th hole, Sheebz scored a birdie to win the previous four carryover holes.  This win vaulted Sheebz into a tie for second with Powell, only three points behind Nick.  After four rounds, the score was:

Powell - 83, Nick - 83, Sheebz - 82, JJ - 54.

ROUND 5 - Grayhawk Raptor

It doesn't get much tighter than the top three players being within one point of each other with only one round remaining.  Additionally, it looked like JJ had the pink belt wrapped up.  JJ came out of the blocks and played a huge factor, winning all of the points and keeping points away from the leaders, winning the first four holes.  Then Powell took over, winning five of the next six holes.  Sheebz and Nick couldn't get anything going.  Still, on the fifteenth tee, there were three holes carried over, making fifteen worth seven points.  At this point, Powell was ahead of Sheebz and Nick by eight and nine points, so it was still anybody's game.  But then Powell stuck his approach shot close on the par four, and wont the hole with a par.  With nine skin points remaining, he had a sixteen point lead on Nick and Sheebz, so he was going to be the champion.  Sheebz and Nick were tied for second going into eighteen.  Sheebz birdied that hole to take second place.  HSI X was over, and Powell captured the trophy for the first time on his fourth event.  The final score was:
