Hawaiian Shirt Invitational

Rules

  • Must play at least four full rounds to be considered an HSI major.  Must play at least two full rounds to be considered non-major.  The HSI trophy is only awarded for major victories.
  • Only players that intend to play in all scheduled rounds of an HSI will be included in the scoring totals of any individual round.  Once a player drops out of an HSI event, they will not be eligible to win any points beyond the last hole the play.  Any player that does not play in all of the HSI rounds for that event will not be eligible to win the event.
  • Play ball as it lies. Must use judgment here. Ball in a tractor tire mark or ground under repair can be moved and dropped. Ball in a divot or on ground where grass is gone or brown should be played.
  • One mulligan off the tee for each nine.  The decision to use the mulligan must be made before the groups leave the tee box.  Once the mulligan is hit on a nine, it cannot be hit again regardless if the player uses the mulligan ball or not.
  • No gimmies, putt everything out. Anytime that a player does not putt out it is a one stroke penalty.
  • Highest score possible on any single hole is quadruple bogey. If quadruple bogey is recorded without player finishing the hole, a 3 putt will be recorded.
  • Every player will keep track of their own scores and extras and it will be reconciled with the official scorekeeper at the end of each nine holes.  The official scorekeeper will rotate each round.
  • Out of Bounds will be played as lateral hazards.

Point System

Each of the following is worth one point. Multiple points can be earned on the same hole (example: A woof and rabbit on the same hole is worth two points.)

In HSI VIII, we will be trialing a team system for the first three rounds.  Each player will be teamed with each of the other players for an entire round.  The lowest score for the team will be the lone score for that team.  Extras will still be earned individually.

SkinsEach hole is assigned either one, two, or three points on a random basis.  There will be six holes of each point total for each round.  Low score wins the hole.  Points carry over to next hole when at least two people tie with low score. Points can be carried from the 18th hole of one round to the 1st hole of the next round within the same trip. Carryovers on final hole of trip follows this tie breaker.  The player must make it past each bullet to be considered.
  • Must be involved in the final hole to be considered.
  • Involved in the the most carryovers on the streak leading up to the final hole.
  • Lowest stroke score on all of the carryover holes.
  • Most skins (not points) won on final 18 holes (including carryover skins from previous rounds)
  • Lowest stroke score on the final round.
  • Most skins (not points) won in the entire HSI.
  • Lowest HSI overall average stroke score.
  • Player who won the last skin before the carryover holes (this is called the momentum bonus).

If there is a tie after the entire HSI event, the following tie breaker will be used.  The player must make it past each bullet to be considered.

  • Most skins (not points) won on the entire HSI.
  • Most skin points won on the entire HSI event.
  • Most holes won (wouldn't include carryovers - just how many holes did each player card the lowest score) on the entire HSI.
  • Lowest total strokes on the entire HSI.
  • Player that finished higher in the previous HSI (you must unseat the higher previous finishers).

RabbitMake a putt longer than the flagstick is worth one point. Don't have to win the hole.  It is the players responsibility to measure the rabbit eligibility before the putt is attempted or confirm with the other players that it is a rabbit attempt (if not obvious.  i.e. 40 foot putt)
WoofAnywhere not on the green, even on fringe, you can say "woof" (like a dog). Up and down gets 1 point. Anything worse is minus 1 point. Don't have to win the hole. Only one woof can be attempted per hole, and no woofs can be attempted after the player is on the green. (i.e. Can't putt a ball off the green and then woof back to the hole.)
BirdieAny score under par on a hole gets a point. Don't have to win the hole.
GreenieClosest to pin on green on par 3 gets a point. You don't have to win the hole or get any certain score.
SandieUp and down from sand for any score is worth one point. Don't have to win the hole.
